About Lamb School

A small preschool built around readiness, confidence, and care.

Lamb School of Trinity Episcopal Church welcomes children in Greece, NY with an educational program designed to prepare them for Kindergarten. Sessions are intentionally limited and staffed by a certified teacher with experienced co-teachers.

Children build social confidence, curiosity, and self-esteem through a balance of circle time, free play, art, nature, science, stories, movement, music, gym time, playground time, and special seasonal activities.

Three Year Old Class

Social development, taking turns, getting along with others, art and nature projects, music, movement, stories, field trips, special activities, and summer home visits to ease the transition to school.

  • Limited to 20 children with three teachers; often closer to 16 children.
  • Children should be three by December 1 of the school year.
  • Complete toilet training is not required.
  • Each child brings a nutritious snack and drink.

Four Year Old Class

Kindergarten readiness through play and circle time, with art, nature, science themes, classroom jobs, stories, movement, music, field trips, and special programs throughout the year.

  • Limited to 22 children with two teachers.
  • Children should be four by December 1 of the school year.

Inside the classroom

A 2.5-hour day that moves from welcome to wonder.

  1. Circle time: music, singing, instruments, movement, calendar work, classroom jobs, and early academic skills.
  2. Free play: blocks, puzzles, coloring, playdough, art, and open-ended classroom materials.
  3. Snack and active play: children bring their own snack, then use the Parish Hall gym or fenced playground.
  4. Story and goodbye: flannel board counting, special songs, stories, and the Goodbye Song.

Learning themes

Readiness through science, authors, and hands-on discovery.

Children practice colors, shapes, letter and number recognition, counting, cutting skills, vocabulary, and science facts. Pre-K themes include rain forest animals, planets, dinosaurs, and under sea animals. Three-year-olds explore authors such as Eric Carle, Dr. Seuss, Audrey Wood, and Don Wood.

Spring brings live observation projects: chicks and ducks growing in eggs and hatching in the room, plus caterpillars spinning chrysalides and emerging as butterflies.

Pre-K children participate in a Christmas Nativity and singing program, a non-competitive spring Olympics, and an end-of-year Graduation Program. Younger children learn Christmas songs for the class Christmas party.

Space to move

Gym equipment and a fenced playground are part of the daily rhythm.

The Parish Hall gym includes tricycles and big wheels, a basketball hoop and balls, tummy scooters, hula hoops, slide, hopping balls, sand table, water table, single person trampoline, parachute, dress up, kitchen and house play, and a train table.

How do I register?

Complete a registration form and pay the non-refundable $100 registration fee to hold your child’s place. The registration form and fee are due immediately; the health form is due in September. Forms can be emailed or mailed by request.

How are parents kept informed?

Parents receive a printed calendar and newsletter each month with class activities, dates for future programs, field trips, and any special programs that need parent participation.

Does my child have to be toilet trained?

No. Complete toilet training is not required for Lamb School. Children in pull-ups are welcome.

What if my child cries at drop-off?

Teachers know separation can be hard. Parents are encouraged to say goodbye casually, and the teachers give children hugs, support, and a phone call home when needed.

Are parents welcome?

Yes. Lamb School has an open door policy. Parents are always welcome, though volunteering is not required.

How are holidays handled?

Halloween is celebrated lightly with songs and stories plus an optional family party. Christmas includes songs, stories, class parties, and a Pre-K Nativity and singing program. Lamb School is non-denominational and all faiths are welcome.

What facilities do children use?

Children use a large Parish Hall daily for active play, plus a large fenced playground with swings, slides, climbing ropes, and a balance beam.

How is discipline handled?

Teachers emphasize respect, safety, redirection, well-paced active and quiet activities, and practical language children can use to get along with classmates.
